Mr. Aleman, studied law at the Javeriana\r\nUniversity (J.D., 1991) where he also obtained a Corporate Law Certificate\r\n(L.L.M., 1996). He then obtained a Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) in\r\nResearch at the Alcala University (Spain, 2006), and a Ph.D. in Law (2011, Cum\r\nLaude).

Mr. Aleman\r\npracticed as an IP Attorney from 1991 to 1995. He was then appointed Head of\r\nthe Colombian Industrial Property Office, from 1995 to 1998, and was invited as\r\na Fellow Visiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany in\r\n1998. He joined WIPO in 1999 as Senior Program Officer, Office of Cooperation\r\nfor Development for Latin America and the Caribbean (from 1999 to 2006). He was\r\nthen appointed Deputy Director in the Division for Public Policy and\r\nDevelopment (from 2006 to 2009), Deputy Director of the Patent Law Division\r\n(from 2009 to 2013), and went on to be Director of the Patent Law Division. He\r\ncurrently holds the position of Assistant Director General, leading the IP and\r\nInnovation Ecosystems Sector (IES).

\r\n\r\n

Mr. Aleman is responsible for\r\nhelping Member States develop their IP and innovation ecosystems to drive\r\neconomic growth. He is also responsible for providing support for researchers,\r\ninnovators, and enterprises, including SMEs. Other key focus areas include IP\r\ncommercialization for business growth; emergence of IP as an asset class;\r\ndevelopment of advisory expertise on national IP strategies; economic analysis\r\non the role IP plays in promoting innovation and creativity; strengthening ADR\r\nand the services provided by the Arbitration and Mediation Center; and\r\nproviding technical assistance to the judiciary, as well as services related to\r\nthe legal databases.

Carsten Fink is the Chief Economist of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) based in Geneva. Before joining WIPO, he was Professor of International Economics at the University of St.Gallen. He also held the positions of Visiting Professor at the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris and Visiting Senior Fellow at the Groupe d’Economie Mondiale, a research institute at Sciences Po.

Prior to his academic appointments, Mr. Fink worked for more than 10 years at the World Bank. Among other positions, he was a Senior Economist in the International Trade Team of the World Bank Institute, working out of the World Bank’s office in Geneva and an Economist in the Trade Division of the World Bank’s research department, based in Washington, DC.

Mr. Fink’s research work – focused on intellectual property, innovation, and international trade – has been published in academic journals and books. He holds a doctorate degree in economics from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and a Master of Science degree in economics from the University of Oregon in the United States.

Mr. Debisi O. Araba

Mr. Debisi Araba is a public policy, innovation and strategy specialist focused on the future of food, the environment, and entrepreneurship. He is currently a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London. He also serves on the Montpellier Malabo Panel of experts – an eminent group of global experts – working together to enhance African and European government support of national and regional agricultural development and food security priorities in Africa. Previously, he led the Africa Green Revolution Forum (AGRF) as the Managing Director, and was also the Africa Region Director at the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), a member of the CGIAR, the consortium on international agriculture research. He has also served as the Senior Technical Adviser on Environmental Policy to the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development in Nigeria.

Ms. Kate Edwards

Ms. Kate Edwards\r\nis an award-winning 30+ year veteran of the game industry, and the CEO and\r\nprincipal consultant of Geogrify, a consultancy which innovated content\r\nculturalization in games, as well as the CXO and Co-Founder of SetJetters, a\r\nfilm tourism app. She is also the former Executive Director of the\r\nInternational Game Developers Association (IGDA) and the Global Game Jam. In\r\naddition to serving in several board and advisory roles, she is a geographer,\r\nwriter, and corporate strategist. In 2021, she was included in the Forbes’ «50\r\nOver 50» Vision List and was also inducted into the Women in Games Hall of\r\nFame.

Mr. Ricardo\r\nHausmann, Director of Harvard’s Growth Lab and Rafik Hariri Professor at\r\nHarvard Kennedy School, leads influential research on economic growth and\r\ndevelopment. He pioneered Growth Diagnostics and Economic Complexity\r\nmethodologies, along with concepts like Dark Matter and Original Sin. His work,\r\nfeatured in top journals and media outlets, has over 50,000 citations. As\r\nprincipal investigator for 50+ initiatives in 30 countries, Hausmann shapes\r\ndevelopment policies globally. Formerly, he was Chief Economist at the\r\nInter-American Development Bank, Minister of Planning in Venezuela, and Chair\r\nof the IMF-World Bank Development Committee. With a Ph.D. from Cornell University,\r\nhe founded the Center for Public Policy at Instituto de Estudios Superiores de\r\nAdministracion (IESA).

Mr. Ashish Mohan is Executive Director at the Confederation of\r\nIndian Industry, and heads the portfolios of Technology, Design, Innovation, IP\r\nCreation and Robotics at CII.

\r\n\r\n

He is a doctorate\r\nin Robotics from the IIT Delhi, and has an industry experience of 25 years in\r\ncorporates like Tata Motors and JCB India, and a brief research project for\r\nIndian Space Research Organizations. His areas of expertise are, (1) New Technology\r\ndevelopment in AI, Computational efficiencies and Multibody dynamics, and, (2)\r\nEstablishment of Industry-best Innovation and IP ecosystems. Mr. Ashish has\r\nauthored one book (Publishers: Springer, the Netherlands) on Robotics and has\r\n12 publications in international journals.
