Mr. Aleman, studied law at the Javeriana\r\nUniversity (J.D., 1991) where he also obtained a Corporate Law Certificate\r\n(L.L.M., 1996). He then obtained a Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) in\r\nResearch at the Alcala University (Spain, 2006), and a Ph.D. in Law (2011, Cum\r\nLaude).

Mr. Aleman\r\npracticed as an IP Attorney from 1991 to 1995. He was then appointed Head of\r\nthe Colombian Industrial Property Office, from 1995 to 1998, and was invited as\r\na Fellow Visiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany in\r\n1998. He joined WIPO in 1999 as Senior Program Officer, Office of Cooperation\r\nfor Development for Latin America and the Caribbean (from 1999 to 2006). He was\r\nthen appointed Deputy Director in the Division for Public Policy and\r\nDevelopment (from 2006 to 2009), Deputy Director of the Patent Law Division\r\n(from 2009 to 2013), and went on to be Director of the Patent Law Division. He\r\ncurrently holds the position of Assistant Director General, leading the IP and\r\nInnovation Ecosystems Sector (IES).

Mr. Aleman is responsible for\r\nhelping Member States develop their IP and innovation ecosystems to drive\r\neconomic growth. He is also responsible for providing support for researchers,\r\ninnovators, and enterprises, including SMEs. Other key focus areas include IP\r\ncommercialization for business growth; emergence of IP as an asset class;\r\ndevelopment of advisory expertise on national IP strategies; economic analysis\r\non the role IP plays in promoting innovation and creativity; strengthening ADR\r\nand the services provided by the Arbitration and Mediation Center; and\r\nproviding technical assistance to the judiciary, as well as services related to\r\nthe legal databases.

Carsten Fink is the Chief Economist of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) based in Geneva. Before joining WIPO, he was Professor of International Economics at the University of St.Gallen. He also held the positions of Visiting Professor at the Fondation Nationale des Sciences Politiques (Sciences Po) in Paris and Visiting Senior Fellow at the Groupe d’Economie Mondiale, a research institute at Sciences Po.

Prior to his academic appointments, Mr. Fink worked for more than 10 years at the World Bank. Among other positions, he was a Senior Economist in the International Trade Team of the World Bank Institute, working out of the World Bank’s office in Geneva and an Economist in the Trade Division of the World Bank’s research department, based in Washington, DC.

Mr. Fink’s research work – focused on intellectual property, innovation, and international trade – has been published in academic journals and books. He holds a doctorate degree in economics from the University of Heidelberg in Germany and a Master of Science degree in economics from the University of Oregon in the United States.

Intan Hamdan-Livramento is an Economist working in the Department\r\nof Economics and Data Analytics at the WIPO headquarters in Geneva,\r\nSwitzerland. She is a co-author of WIPO’s analytical publication, the World\r\nIntellectual Property Report. Intan Hamdan-Livramento is responsible for\r\nconducting and supervising areas of the section’s work relating to the\r\neconomics of innovation and intellectual property (IP). Her current research portfolio\r\ninclude agriculture, digitalization, IP institutions and sustainability.

Intan Hamdan-Livramento received her PhD in economics from\r\nthe École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne. She holds a Diplôme d’Études\r\nApprofondies in international economics from the Graduate Institute of\r\nInternational Studies in Geneva, and a Master’s in international law and\r\neconomics from the World Trade Institute in Bern, Switzerland. She received her\r\nundergraduate degree from Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington, United\r\nStates of America.

Prior to WIPO, Intan Hamdan-Livramento worked at the\r\nInternational Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Mr. Fabien Curto Millet is Google’s Chief Economist, based
in San Francisco. The team he leads develops economic
insights to guide business decisions across Google,
decodes the macroeconomic environment, engages with
regulators and policymakers, and pushes the frontier
of thought leadership on issues at the intersection of
technology and economics. An area of recent focus has
been the economic impact of AI developments and their
multifaceted consequences for the future of work and
societies globally. He was educated at Oxford University,
obtaining his Doctorate in Economics in 2006, and was a
Lecturer in Economics at Balliol College, Oxford. He is a
Member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Icaro Leonardo Da Silva is Director of Technical Analyses
within Ericsson’s IPR and Licensing. He works in licensing
negotiations, litigation projects and portfolio development
for Standard Essential Patents – SEPs, in particular the
Ericsson’s 5G portfolio. With a vast experience in 3GPP
Standardization, Icaro is among the most prolific inventors
within Ericsson, being awarded as Ericsson Inventor of the
Year in 2019 for his contributions to the 5G standard. During
5G standardization in 3GPP, he represented Ericsson, having
actively contributed to drafting 5G technical specifications.
In the recent years, he has also been quite active in policy
debates in Brazil on SEPs and FRAND licensing, being in
panels and conferences with public officials, judges and law
firms. He is from Fortaleza – Brazil, and has a Master and
Bachelor in Electrical Engineer from the Universidade Federal
do Ceara (with an exchange period at Centrale Lyon, France).
Icaro remains an active inventor, working part time in R&D
and developing concepts for the upcoming 6G standard.
