Mr. Aleman, studied law at the Javeriana\r\nUniversity (J.D., 1991) where he also obtained a Corporate Law Certificate\r\n(L.L.M., 1996). He then obtained a Diploma in Advanced Studies (DEA) in\r\nResearch at the Alcala University (Spain, 2006), and a Ph.D. in Law (2011, Cum\r\nLaude).

Mr. Aleman\r\npracticed as an IP Attorney from 1991 to 1995. He was then appointed Head of\r\nthe Colombian Industrial Property Office, from 1995 to 1998, and was invited as\r\na Fellow Visiting Researcher at the Max Planck Institute in Munich, Germany in\r\n1998. He joined WIPO in 1999 as Senior Program Officer, Office of Cooperation\r\nfor Development for Latin America and the Caribbean (from 1999 to 2006). He was\r\nthen appointed Deputy Director in the Division for Public Policy and\r\nDevelopment (from 2006 to 2009), Deputy Director of the Patent Law Division\r\n(from 2009 to 2013), and went on to be Director of the Patent Law Division. He\r\ncurrently holds the position of Assistant Director General, leading the IP and\r\nInnovation Ecosystems Sector (IES).

Mr. Aleman is responsible for\r\nhelping Member States develop their IP and innovation ecosystems to drive\r\neconomic growth. He is also responsible for providing support for researchers,\r\ninnovators, and enterprises, including SMEs. Other key focus areas include IP\r\ncommercialization for business growth; emergence of IP as an asset class;\r\ndevelopment of advisory expertise on national IP strategies; economic analysis\r\non the role IP plays in promoting innovation and creativity; strengthening ADR\r\nand the services provided by the Arbitration and Mediation Center; and\r\nproviding technical assistance to the judiciary, as well as services related to\r\nthe legal databases.

Ms. Mages leads a team at the World Intellectual Property\r\nOrganization (WIPO) that empowers enterprises, innovators, and creators to\r\nmaximize their potential through the creation and commercialization of\r\nintellectual property. This includes the Inventor Assistance Program (IAP),\r\nwhich connects under-resourced inventors with volunteer patent attorneys and\r\nagents to navigate the patent system. Prior to her current role, Ms. Mages\r\nheaded WIPO’s legislative and policy advice section for patents and trade secrets.\r\nShe collaborated with more than 45 countries and other bodies at different\r\nlevels of development to update their legislative frameworks.

Prior to joining WIPO, Ms. Mages was Senior Counsel for IP\r\nat General Electric, where she most recently managed IP and technology aspects\r\nin M&A transactions. She also has extensive experience in IP policy\r\ndevelopment from the corporate perspective. Ms. Mages has worked across the\r\ninnovation cycle, including as an inventor and through experience in patent\r\nanalytics, drafting, prosecution, and strategic portfolio management.

Ms. Mages earned her Bachelors of Science in Biomedical\r\nEngineering from Boston University and is a graduate of the Quinnipiac\r\nUniversity School of Law. She is a member of the Connecticut bar and is\r\nregistered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

Prior to joining WIPO, Mr. Kos worked for more than ten years in the financial sector. During this time, Mr. Kos has executed several cross-border mergers & acquisitions and has gained valuation and transaction expertise in a range of industries incl. consumer goods & retail, pharmaceuticals & medtech and industrial technology.

From 2017 to 2021, Mr. Kos was a Vice President with Alantra, a Zurich-based corporate finance boutique, where he worked with a specific focus on managing corporate transactions. He has also held roles at Deloitte, Robert W. Baird, and KPMG. In addition, Mr. Kos is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered and Certified Accountants.

Mr. Martin Brassell is an expert in the use of\r\nintellectual property in business finance, and the identification, scoring and\r\nvaluation processes needed to facilitate this emerging market. He has worked\r\nextensively with banks, investors, insurers and policy makers across the UK,\r\nEurope and Asia to develop new approaches that recognised the importance of\r\nintangible assets for business competitiveness and growth.

Mr. Martin is an RSA Fellow and a member of\r\nCIPA’s IP Commercialisation Committee. He is recognized by IAM Magazine as one\r\nof the top 300 IP strategists worldwide.

\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nMr. Martin has written and co-authored a number of influential\r\npublications on IP identification and financing. His international publications\r\ninclude Fostering the use of intangibles to strengthen SME access to finance for\r\nOECD the 2013 Banking on IP report and 2017 Hidden Value report for the UK\r\nIntellectual Property Office, and two reports on intangibles identification for\r\nthe Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Mr. Rodrigo Ventura is the Chief Economist of the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI). He holds a degree in economics from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, a master’s of science degree in economics from the Brazilian Institute of Capital Markets, and a PhD in production engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro.

Before joining INPI, among other positions, Mr. Ventura worked for almost 15 years as a Senior Economist of the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) in the fields of National Accounts and Consumer Price Indices. He has also accumulated experience in the private sector, where has managed various consultancy projects in scenario analysis and strategic planning. Mr. Ventura's research work – focused on macroeconomics, economics of strategy, and economics of industrial property and innovation – has been published in academic journals and books.

Mr. Konialidis was previously the Managing Director at a consultancy specialized in advising, valuing, and transacting in intangible assets. Between 2010 and 2017, Mr. Konialidis was a corporate finance advisor and Investor Relations officer for corporate clients in several industries, including Renewable Energy. From 1994 to2010, Mr. Konialidis spent sixteen years in equity markets in Paris, London, New York, and San Francisco in an array of functions from trading to Institutional sales for firms such as SE Banken (Enskilda), Credit Agricole and Sanford C. She was previously an investor at Moxxie Ventures, a San Francisco-based fund led by former Twitter executives, where she invested across AI, climate technology, and digital health.

With close to a decade of experience at the intersection of technology, finance, and innovation, Ms. Halilou also co-founded Enza Academy, an edtech venture delivering STEM education to underserved youth in the New York tri-state area. Earlier in her career, she led the global expansion at ERA, one of New York’s most active early-stage funds, where she supported over international startups from Asia, Europe, and Latin America in scaling to the US market.

She also served as Program Lead at the Yunus & Youth accelerator founded by Nobel Laureate Muhammad Yunus and began her career at the United Nations serving the Office of the Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications. In addition to her investing work, Ms. Halilou is an adjunct lecturer in Venture Capital Finance and Intermediate Finance at HEC Paris and the City University of New York. She holds a BA in International Relations from Durham University, an MA in International Development from NYU, and an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School. Ms. Claudia Martinez Felix serves as the Deputy Head of Unit in DG GROW at the European Commission, focusing on Intellectual Property Rights since 2021. Her unit enhances Europe's IP legal framework, covering trademarks, patents, designs, and geographical indications, aiding innovation and SME access to IP management, enforcement and finance. Ms. Martinez leads the EU's anti-counterfeiting policy, develops a new EU scheme for geographical indications for craft and industrial products, and advances the EU patents framework, including on compulsory licensing and supplementary protection certificates. Previously, she was Deputy Head for the Single Market “goods” unit and a legal officer on services and competition law. Ms. Martinez worked in the European Parliament and private sector. Prof. Stefano Zambon (PhD, LSE) is Full Professor of Accounting and Business Economics at the University of Ferrara, Italy. Visiting and teaching appointments in universities of four continents (NYU, LBS, HEC and CNAM Paris, Waseda School of Governance Tokyo, Gakushuin University of Tokyo, Melbourne, Canterbury at Christchurch, Passau, Bözen). He has more than 120 publications in four languages in books and international academic journals.

Since 2005, Prof. Zambon is the Standing Coordinator of the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management (EIASM) Interdisciplinary Conference Series on “Intangibles, Intellectual Capital and Sustainability: Reporting, Governance, and ValueCreation”.

A founding member of the Network “World Intellectual Capital Initiative” – WICI, of which he has been the Global Chair from 2015 to 2019. At present, Prof. Zambon is a member of the WICI Global Network Governance Group as well as of the WICI Europe Governance Group. From November 2024 he coordinates the WICI-convened “Strategic Intangibles Initiative”, which comprises 18 internationally relevant organizations, including WIPO. He has been a member of the “Integrated Reporting and Connectivity Council” (IRCC) of the IFRS Foundation since August 2022. From2014 to 2022, he served on the ICAS Research Panel. Since 2019, he has chaired the Integrated Reporting Judging Committee within the Italian Oscar for Corporate Communication.
